The end of a discussion between Steve and I on religion:
- Me: All these people, killing each other over religion....
- Steve: My god is obviously better than your god.
- Me: They're all the same. Just with different names.
- Steve: They call me Buddha, THAT'S NOT MY NAME! They call me Allah, THAT'S NOT MY NAME!
- Me: They call me Jesus, THAT'S NOT MY NAME!
- Us: That's not my name! *clap clap* That's not my name! *clap clap*
Flogging Molly played in Rochester last night. They make a point to do one concert a year here, because the guitarist is from our lovely little city.
It was my first time seeing them live, sadly. I’ve always been away somewhere whenever they have come, so finally I can say I have seen them live.
The show was amazing. They played mostly their old songs that everyone loves, and I heard all of the songs I wanted (Devil’s Dance Floor, Seven Deadly Sins, and a few others). The Main Street Armory was like a sauna, with all the people in there, and the stupidly high humidity. It was one giant pool of sweaty, jumping, clapping people, which was kind of gross, but fun. I was so exhausted by the end of the show. I was all sticky from sweating, my ears were ringing, and my feet still hurt from jumping about.
I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Waaa waaa waaa waaannt!
I went rambling about the city today. Steve, Al, and I went on a self-guided tour of the old subway tunnel that runs under part of the city, and it was quite the experience.
There used to be a subway running through Rochester, but it was torn out when one of our expressways was built. My grandfather remembers taking the subway to catch his train to leave for Parris Island when he was 18, if that gives anyone any indication of how old it is. I’ve personally never been down there before, after hearing stories about it for so many years.
Since I just moved back to the area recently, I have been on a huge kick to learn all about the city I was raised in, and really immerse myself in what Rochester has to offer, and all the things I missed growing up here.
Down in the opening of the subway tunnel, there are tons of pieces of really amazing graffiti, and having Al with us was especially great, because he knows most of the artists who did these pieces, and could tell us all their names and what the things said.
I was truly blown away with what these people can do with simple cans of spray paint. The colors, shading, lines, and shapes that I saw today….I don’t think I have words to describe them, so I will just use pictures of some of my favorites.

Were that I an eyelash,
or a freckle on thy skin-
So that I may never be far away,
and may have thee,
again and again.
I can’t keep my heart to myself around you…
Up
I simply do not care
about morning breath
or sticking up hair.
I just want
to be there
when you wake up.
Deactivated my facebook account for now. Maybe now I’ll actually get my homework done spend more time on Tumblr.
